Due Date Countdown

Count down the days until your due date. Enter your estimated due date — from the Due Date Calculator or from your provider — and see how many days are left. The count is signed, so once the due date passes it simply reads as 'X days ago' rather than throwing an error, which is useful when a baby arrives a little late.

This calculator provides an estimate for general information only and is not medical advice. Due dates, gestational age, and fertility windows are estimates — babies rarely arrive exactly on the estimated due date, and individual cycles and pregnancies vary. Always confirm dates and any health decisions with your healthcare provider or OB-GYN.

How to calculate

Enter your estimated due date and the date you want to count from (today by default). The calculator subtracts today from the due date to give the number of days remaining. A future due date shows a positive countdown; a past one reads as 'days ago'.

days until = due date − as-of date, counted in whole calendar days. A positive result means days remaining ('N days from now'); zero means the due date is today; a negative result means the due date has passed ('N days ago').
Example calculation

With an estimated due date of October 8, 2026 and today being June 24, 2026, there are 106 days to go. If the due date has already passed, the count turns negative and reads as 'X days ago' — the calculator never errors.

Assumptions

  • The count is the number of whole calendar days between today and the due date. The as-of date itself is day 0.
  • A due date that has already passed gives a negative count and reads as 'X days ago' — it is never treated as an error.
  • The as-of date defaults to today, using your device's local calendar date. Near midnight the local and UTC date can differ, so the countdown may shift by a day depending on your time zone.
  • Due dates are estimates: only about 4% of babies arrive on the exact day, so treat the countdown as a guide, not a guarantee.

Common mistakes

  • Treating the countdown as a precise prediction. The due date marks 40 weeks; a normal birth happens anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks.
  • Expecting an error after the due date passes. The count just goes negative and reads as 'X days ago'.

Frequently asked questions

How many days until my due date?

Enter your estimated due date and today's date. The calculator returns the number of days remaining — for example, 106 days from now.

What happens when my due date passes?

The count becomes negative and reads as 'X days ago'. A passed due date is never an error — it simply counts in the other direction.

Where do I get my due date?

Use the Due Date Calculator to estimate it from your last period, conception date, IVF transfer, or an ultrasound, or use the date your provider gave you.

Is the countdown exact?

It is exact for the dates you enter, but the due date itself is an estimate. Only about 4% of babies arrive on their due date, so treat the countdown as a guide.
